Storyteller

Dayo Clinckspoor (28) began his career as an actor in commercials, films, and TV series, which gave him a unique insight into the film industry. These experiences formed the basis for his passion for cinema. After his studies in film directing at the Luca School of Arts in Brussels, he wrote, produced, and directed his award-winning short film 'Meander'. Now, he works as a freelance creator, focusing on storytelling. For this, Clinckspoor uses all channels: film, photography, and content creation.

    A visual narrative story of the sorrow, confusion, beauty, and opposing emotions that the loss of a loved one can cause. Meander is a 20-minute short film written, produced and directed by Dayo Clinckspoor in the context of his Master's degree in audiovisual arts at LUCA School of Arts in 2019. The production of the film took one year to complete. Clinckspoor worked together with acclaimed people off the film industry to create this project such as his D.O.P: Renaat Lambeets, editor: Els Voorspoels, color grading: Kene Illegems, Sound Mixing: Lennert Hunfeld, Original Music: Helge Slikker. And his Cast: Marthe Schneider, Dirk Hendrikx and Bjarne Devolder.

    Sweet Alice, is a 5 min short film written and directed by Dayo Clinckspoor.J.E.F Film Festival challenged Dayo to make a short film in 3 days to see what he could do in such a small-time frame. The first day was for writing and pre-production. The second day was for shooting and the third for editing. That same evening Sweet Alice, went in premiere at the J.E.F Film festival.

  • Dayo films his friend over the course of one night.

    What seems to start like a capturing for fun of his friends and couple Aimée & Pauline, rapidly changes in a silent fascination for the girl Pauline. While we see Aimé's wrong attempts to be the cool guy to his girlfriend Pauline, her cry for attention only rises. The more Aimée tries to get her attention, the more he looses her.

  • This short film was a collaboration with De Vooruit in Ghent & Dayo Clinckspoor in 2017. Dayo documented 8 minutes of conversations held on May 25th at De Vooruit. “Within 10 years this image will feel like fiction. Everything will be different then.” This is the first film of a series A Documentation Of Time that Dayo will make.

  • In 2018 Dayo made a Music video for an upcoming artist in Portugal. The idea was to make a music video with no budget at all, find a local unknown artist that could benefit from it, and collaborate. Dayo worked thogeter with the artist Mike Lyte from Lisbon. The video was inspired by the estetic looks of instagram. The square centered frames. Because Lyte is very present on instagram. The music video ended up going viral in Portugal for two weeks straight and got almost 800.000 views on Youtube. After it wend viral it started a wave of reaction videos on Youtube. People filming themselves while they watched the music video, reacting on it.It launched the career of Mike Lyte, making the balloons in the music video his trademark on the covers of magazines.

  • King Of The Rats was the first short film Dayo made, back in 2014 when he was finishing high school. This project was realized with no budget at all and with the help of his familie and friends. This was the first time Dayo wrote, produced, directed and edited a film. The film won 2014 ‘Beste Film’ at Kunstbedende & ‘Best director without a prior education’ at CinéPublic
